Sport,- rekreační fyzická aktivita tvořící složku volného času a životního stylu, ve vrcholové podobě prováděná i jako profese. Plní funkce zdravotní i relaxační, zahrnuje momenty soutěživosti, výkonu, regulované ventilace agrese, příslušnosti ke skupině. Se sportem souvisí i fenomén sportovního diváctví jako masové zábavy. – Pohybová činnost soutěžního charakteru prováděná podle určitých pravidel. Závodní soutěžení se vyznačuje snahou po nejvyšším výkonu.

When people are travelling they may carry different kinds of luggage depending on the kind of trip. If they are going on a long journey they might take a big suitcase. If they are going on shorter trip they might carry a briefcase, a knapsack, or a small rucksack.
Accommodation depends on amount of money, which you want to spend. Of course it exists cheaper hotels and on the other hand hotels for very rich people. Difference is clear, cheaper hotels are opened seasonably and they are mostly located to periphery of the city. Very expensive hotels are situated to center of the city and they contains for example air condition, swimming pool and various kind of meals.

In our state there are many travel agencies. Through travel agencies people have their trips, tickets and accommodation reserved.
In the first place there are hotels and motels which differ in price and comfort. Before our arrival we should make a reservation, book a room in such a hotel. We can get bed and breakfast or full board. All this can be taken care of at the reception desk. A special kind of accommodation for young people are youth hostels (mainly in GB) where it is possible to stay overnight at a low rate. Some tourists prefer to stay at farm or they rent a room on their own.

Public transport is cheaper, but also less comfortable. In big cities underground (subway) have been built. They are the fastest means of transportation and the underground trains usually go every five minutes on average.
For some people travelling is very expensive. Young people like hitchhiking or just hiking especially.
When going abroad we must get necessary documents. First of all a valid passport and visa to some countries which we can get at an embassy. We must change money in a bank or exchange-office. We should know foreign languages.

As personal vehicles, motorcycles and cars are the most popular. There are also other means of transport on four wheels – buses and trolley buses. Of rail vehicles, which are designed for public use, we could mention trains, trams and the underground.
Cars and motorbikes are expensive to purchase and in addition one also has to pay for petrol. For short and middle distances a car is fast enough unless we get into traffic jam. The best thing about cars is that they will take you almost anywhere at any time. The most frequently public means of transport are buses and trains.

There are many means of transport to choose from. Means of transport can be divided into three groups: transport by air, water or land. The fastest transport is travelling by air. Flying may be one of the safest ways of travelling but it is very expensive and travelling by car is the most widespread.
The main fact that speaks for water transport are the relatively small costs.
Land offers the greatest variety of means of transport. There are motor road vehicles and bicycles on the one hand and rail on the other hand.

Now something about travelling.

People travel to reach places that are close or far away, they travel for fun or from necessity. Travelling takes up more time in our lives than most of us imagine. An everyday form of travelling may be going shopping, commuting to school, to work or visiting friends.
Other reason for travelling is tourism – especially during holiday. Many people like travelling because it is exciting, they can see new places, meet new people, eat something unusual and see the way of life in various countries. Furthermore they can get new experience.
There are two ways of travelling: one is using our own means of transport and the other is the public transport services.

Holiday, Travelling, Means of Transport, At a Hotel

I spent my last holiday in following way. I kept relaxing my brain, but on the other hand I worked hard manually. I stayed mostly time at home and helped with reconstructing and modification of sister’s house. The rest of my time I spend with my friends and family. Of course I also relaxed during holiday. I have very good friends so we go to my friend cottage. There we plan some trip to the mountains. I mean that we go by cycle no on foot. During our trip we sometimes stop close to the Dam Lake, so we can swim.
Next holiday I think it will be a bit similar. Certainly I’ll go by cycle with my friends to cottage. But something will be different, I want to do something for my PhD study during holiday.

The winter OG have a short history next summer OG. The first winter OG were held in 1924 in Chamonix. The winter OG were held every four years. Since 1992 have been winter OG in other year them summer OG. In 1924 competitors competed in 5 sports disciplines – skiing, speed skating, figure skating, ice hockey and bobsleighing. The most successful from our competitors were in Nagano, where the ice-hockey team won gold medal.
The Olympic Symbols are:
- The Flag with five coloured circles. The colours are blue, yellow, black, green and red.
- The Olympic Fire from the sacred grave in Greek Olympia. It must burn at the main Olympic stadium for the whole period of the Olympic game.
- The Olympic motto: Citius, atius, fortius, which has been used since 1920 as well as the Olympic vow.
- The Olympic anthem was composed in 1896.

The Olympic games

The OG are held every four years. According to fables Greek hero Herakles was founder. The first OG were held in 776 BC in Greek. Games we abolished in 393 AD. They competed in running, fighting, pentathlon, horse racing, music and poetry.
Founder the modern OG is Pierre de Coubertin. His motto: The not important win but to take part. The first modern OG were held in 1896 in Athens. Only five sport disciplines were on the programme in 1896 – gymnastic, athletic, fencing, swimming and rowing. Competitors came from 13 countries. Now are on the programme almost 30 disciplines and the competitors come from more them 120 countries. The next summer will take place in Athens 2004. The first gold medal for Czechoslovakia won Mr. Šupčík in climbing in 1924 in Paris. Our most successful Olympic competitors are Emil Zátopek and Věra Čáslavká.

When I was younger I used to play a lot of games on my computer, but now situation is changed I use mostly computer especially to solve problems with my study I mean simulating, preparing some papers and so on. Of course I use it to listen to the music and to play movies. I have many movies in English downloaded from Internet and I connected my computer with TV and conclusion is following: I can watch the movies on TV. In the end I want to say something about my very special hobby, which is gardening. Taky ještě popsat + slovíčka
So as you can see my hobbies are very various and I am satisfied by it. I have never liked travelling. I know it’s very popular hobby, but I didn’t like it. I think that I can use more effective earned money than by travel. However now I would like to visit some country where is spoken in English to improve my English knowledge. Except Britain, USA or Canada.
I know in England is not only popular football, but rugby, fishing, cricket, rowing, horse-riding are popular as well. Some sports are very dangerous. Many people look for adrenaline sport like bun gee – jumping. Well... I don’t like those sports. To do some sport you can visit many places, for example gyms, bowling arenas, ice hockey stadiums. Some disciplines of athletics. Runs on different distances, weight, pole-jump, high-jump, long-jump, javelin throw.

During my studying on secondary school I didn’t do any active sports and I watch sport on TV only. I did only some sport recreative for example cycling and swimming. When I began to study at university I missed some sport. After I graduated then I started to study PhD program I found out that sport is very important part of my life. Sport gives me not only pleasure but also relaxing from mental work at university. My favorite sport is cycling especially on mountains and I did it with my friends during holidays. I have to mention swimming too because I love swimming. My another different hobby is computers. It is maybe my biggest hobby. I am interested in computers for a long time from my 15 years old, when I gave my first personal computer.

I watch on TV ice hockey, Formula 1 Championship and of course Olympic Games (both summer and winter). I don’t like football very much because I think it is much slower game than for example ice hockey. Of course ice hockey and football is most popular in Czech republic. Well... I am a fan of entire Czech hockey. I am glad to live in times, when the Czech team is the best all around the world.

When I was little I remember I had many good friends. We played all games, which are well known. We played as soldiers, hide-and-seek and so on. Next we played many types of sport. Football, soft-tennis, end-ball. In this time I started my collector’s life. First almost everybody collected stamps. We could buy it at special shop, in post office or sometimes I even unsticked stamps from the letters. When I was 15 I gave up stamp collecting. In the 80s there was a style to collect cecka. Everybody wanted to be in so collected cecka. Cecko is pieces of the plastic formed to look like the letter c or later it was also another forms. This time is far gone, but one thing is the same - I like sport.

I also like spending the time on social contact on free days. I visit my friends, or we go together to a restaurant, or in summer we organize a barbecue in our garden. Sometimes I watch films … but my great hobby is my computer. I like surfing the Internet to research information for my PhD program project. Because we live in a detached house I have to do all the repairs about the house – for example carpentry, decorating, electric installations, plumbing but I can say I like it.
Nowadays young people, especially teenagers like dancing, listening to music, going to the discos or parties.

I am proud of the Czech ice-hockey players. Sometimes (but not very often) I go to the mountains, I have tried to ride a mountain bike and I can say it was very funny. In summer I like swimming so I often go to the swimming pool. My hobby is also gardening and I have many possibilities for gardening because we have a large garden. We have also two greenhouses and I grow there tomatoes, cucumbers and capsicums. I like growing flowers too, especially roses, tulips, daffodils, sunflowers …..
